| Scem annual meeting January 5, 2008 |
| Those of you that weren’t able to attend the annual business meeting of SCEM missed a good day of fellowship, food and meetings. To start us off right, reports were shared from several of the fellowships and it was good to hear what God is doing through out the state. Dates were then set for our annual trail rides. We will meet April 4-6 at Lakeview Plantation for the ‘Richard McDuffie Spring Ride’ and October 31 – Nov. 1 & 2 at Croft State Park for our ‘Fall Ride’. White Horse Fellowship’s annual ride will be Sept. 22-27 at Lakeview Plantation. Make plans now to invite someone and join us for these times. Ronnie Cox, Missions Mobilization Strategist SCBC Equestrian Ministry, offered to pay our insurance and SCHC fees for the coming year. We praise God for that offer because that will allow us to use our funds for ministry to others. Ronnie also shared a story about his horse, Katie, and challenged us to go out and reach out to the horse community. Jesus went where the people were; we should be doing the same thing. Floyd shared with us the plans of Equestrian Ministries International to hold their annual meeting in Mauldin at Whispering Pines Stables, home of Upstate Equestrian Ministries, March 7-9th. Friday there will be meetings and Saturday will have demonstrations and seminars. Sunday will conclude with Cowboy church. Every one is encouraged to make plans to attend. After a delicious lunch prepared by our President, Robert Christmas, we heard from Larry Westfall as he shared his vision of a horse park near Goodall State Park. He encouraged us to write our congressman to support this endeavor because it would benefit the horse industry as well as the state economy. The nominating committee presented their report and we voted in a new slate of officers for 2008. We want to welcome our new president, Larry Johnson and Claye Clyatt as our new secretary/treasurer. You may send your annual dues to her at 101 Century Lane, Aiken, SC 29803. Larry and Claye along with Vice President, Johnny Stokes, Publicity Director, Roxie Williamson and Newsletter Editor, Lori Smith solicit your prayers to lead South Carolina Equestrian Ministries throughout this New Year. Yes, at the end of the afternoon we can say we were much encouraged by the time spent at Red Bank Church on January 5th. |
